Gift of Gold Jayne Ann Krentz 9780446363815 Books

I've read everything, or nearly so, that Jayne Ann Krentz has written. I knew when I was flitting through Amazons book choices that I had read these books before and that I must not have been in love with them or I would have had paper copies. However, I'd pretty much forgotten them. They are not her best work, for sure. I'm midway through this first one and I'm fairly annoyed by it. I'm finding it a little annoying. I've always like Krentz's spunky heroines, but I'm finding Verity a bit on the snotty side and she's pretty much a know it all type. I'm not liking her, so it's making it hard to get through. I'm disappointed. I realize that this two book series is from the late 80s or early 90s, but I like some of her others from that time. I really hope they get some more of Krentz's old Mira books on ebook.
Update: I can't even finish it. Maybe I will be able to read it again when I'm bored or something.i bought both books in this series and feel I wasted $10. The female protagonist is a real snotty snark. She argues and argues so much I can't stand her. I wish I could return these books, but I got them on kindle ebook.

Gift of Gold Jayne Ann Krentz 9780446363815 Books Reviews

Okay for an earlier work. A little rough compared to her fabulous later works, especially her contemporary
Paranormal works
I have other Jayne Ann Krentz books but this is the worst one I've read. Waaay too much detail on sex and a shakey storyline. You're not sure what you are reading until almost the end when it comes together. The edition is full of typos and missing words, I didn't count them but they average one per ten pages I'm guessing. Had a hard time finishing it because it just didn't make it in my opinion. There are other "Gift" series books but not for me.
I enjoy reading these types of novels, as I find that the use of the "sensory perceptions" are incorporated as a fundamental part of the character's actions. I like that the use of the perceptions are not treated as acceptable or open to all but are dealt with from a point of trust as this adds to the real life trust issues which go into relationship building. I enjoyed the pacing of the book, the dilemmas which were faced as well as the the hero's willingness to listen and change his outlook and choices. I also enjoyed that there was not much change the female as has been the theme of many novels involving relationships.
The story line was entertaining but I can tell this is one of her older novels without even looking at the copyright date. Verity is an annoying little twit that makes me want to slap the snot right out of her. Jonas is a little to macho but they both are products of the times they were written. I think if this had been written today, JAK would have written them differently.
Jayne Ann Krentz could probably write dictionary definitions and make them riveting, but luckily for us she chose to write fiction. I read this book a long time ago and finally was able to find it again. I have the sequel and it is just as good as the first. The relationship business is done well as befits a best-selling author, but I really enjoyed the descriptions of the psychic talents the lovers have and how they deal with it. Jayne did not choose a stereotypical talent for them, but created one I had never heard of, and described it so well it seemed almost normal. The secondary characters are as interesting and well-defined as the primary, and weld the plot line into a beautiful sculpture to go back to over and over.
there are gooks from this author I reread and others that I find repetitive. This was entertaining but perhaps because I have been reading this author for so long it just didn't captivate me as much as her other series work does
I just recently discovered Jayne Ann Krentz and have been systematically reading through her books at a breakneck pace. You get mind-bending sex coupled with a scorching love affair, with lots of action and/or intrigue thrown in for good measure. And, in some of her series, you get the extra bonus of exotic locations combined with the paranormal. Wonderful mix all the way around and keeps me coming back for more! This one has a psychic twist to it, which I personally love, and in my opinion JAK balances that quite well while still retaining a sense of realism. The characters, Jonas and Verity, each balance and compliment each other without giving up anything of who they are as individuals. Just the opposite, they become stronger and I can't wait to read Gift of Fire next. Krentz also writes under the names of Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick, which makes me so happy knowing I have so many more reads ahead of me. Bring 'em on!
